Amazing experience from start to finish! We had the loveliest group for our friend’s birthday and another pair was celebrating their anniversary. I very much enjoyed the pacing, drink pairings, and energy throughout the night. Everyone was kind and the omakase was exceptional!

A good friend invited me to this hidden gem. I love the secret speakeasy vibe and only 6 seats so you can get to know everyone and Chef Saine Zach and Nicole. Ingredients were top notch without being pretentious. Bone marrow bite was very rich and fatty- delicious! Loved the hamachi and unagi too. Excellent sake and cocktail pairings. Try chefs own sake Yuki Neko named after his ragdol Aspen! Really enjoyed getting to know yall!

Toshokan is one of those Austin gems that feels like you’ve stumbled into another world. Luckily I snagged a reservation a few weeks in advance. Tucked away inside a mini golf course and hidden behind a bookshelf, the whole experience has this playful speakeasy energy before you even sit down. Once you step inside, the interior immediately transports you to the late‑night streets of Tokyo—moody lighting, intimate vibes, and that cinematic feeling like something special is about to happen. There are 6 seats. My boyfriend and I had such a fun, personal experience. The staff were incredible—warm, engaging, and genuinely excited to guide us through each course. The food itself was delicious, beautifully crafted, and felt customized in a way that made the night feel unique to us. It’s the kind of omakase that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still delivering seriously good dishes. I also highly recommend the sake and cocktail pairing. The bartender customizes it based on your preferences. I told her my favorite drink is an espresso martini and she made this really fun espresso, strawberry latte concoction. There is also a special house sake with an homage to the owner’s cat. I

Such an awesome omakase experience. The whole evening felt really personal and intimate, which made it stand out from other spots we’ve tried. Every bite was so good, and the sake pairing went perfectly with each bite. Definitely a must try!

Toshokan is a tiny omakase spot in Austin that seats only six, so reservations fill up almost immediately when they’re released. The vibe is more casual than formal, and it’s easy to interact with both the chef and other guests. There’s something special about dining in such a hidden, intimate space. Instead of flashy techniques, the focus is clearly on the fundamentals—rice, salt, and each ingredient is handled with care. Talking with the chef makes it easy to understand why he chose the omakase format. Not only is the food excellent, but he’s also incredibly knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. There’s a small gated parking area nearby, but it’s limited, so paid street parking is usually the better option.
